I spent 14 hours in the Seoul airport. It's one of the most beautiful airports I've ever been to. With different cultural experiences and amazing architecture, I decided to make a few quick images before taking a nap. (Something needed after a restless 13 hour flight from LAX)
Warm memories of a cold beach. The cloudy morning walks reminded me to look closely. The sand was slowly shapen by the different movements of nature and I felt change coming again.
I was lucky enough to find myself in the hills last weekend.
A friend invited me to Mushrooms + Toast, a collaboration by Hatch Labs and Ensō Farm and Forage, which was a special event to with a single goal in mind: to spread the joy of fungi. Mara Rose, founder of Hatch Labs, organized an event to guide a diverse group of fungus loving locals through the practice of mushroom hunting. Teachings included the basics of what it takes to have a successful foray and the habitat of different types of fungi (edible, toxic, psychedelic, etc...). Our guide to through this mycological expedition was Michael Heim; owner of Enso Farm and Forage, president-elect of the Colorado Mycological Society, and a dear friend of mine.
The hunt was a success with pounds of porcini and tons of knowledge gained in only a few short hours. As an end treat, a beautiful picnic was provided by Cured and a delicous meal of mushrooms and toast was prepared by Mr. Heim, using the freshly foraged porcinis from the day.
I can't wait to test my new knowledge on my own and I'm very thankful to have had the chance to photograph this wonderful event.
Had a great time shooting some bands at the LoHi Music Festival.
Liver Down the River put on one of the best daytime sets I've seen in a while. Main Squeeze also put on a real fun show and I finally got to see what all the talk about Tauk was about. Also got a chance to shoot one of my all time favorites, The New Mastersounds, and man was that the stuff of dreams.
